Your TV as a second monitor for your Mac, no cable
Only a laptop screen, and no wish to buy a monitor? Your TV can become a real extra display for macOS.
The options
- HDMI cable: simple, but the TV must be near the Mac, often with a USB-C adapter.
- AirPlay: great with an Apple TV or an AirPlay 2 TV, but a Chromecast or Google TV can’t receive it.
- Chrome: can mirror a tab or the screen, not add a display.
- CastMyMac: turns your Chromecast or Google TV into an extra display that macOS sees as a real monitor. Drag your windows onto it.
Even better: 2 or 4 screens on one TV
A big TV is a lot of room. CastMyMac can split it into 2 screens side by side, 4 in a grid, or one large and smaller ones. Each is a display for macOS, with its own windows. Text and pointer grow to stay readable from the couch.
